Acoustical Measurement Standards for Stereo Listening Rooms
نویسنده
چکیده
2011 This paper presents in‐room acoustical measurement standards as well as quantifiers of the environment itself for the purpose of high‐performance 2‐channel audio reproduction. Context and examples are offered in various metrics ranging from noise, time related elements, frequency response, room size and room construction. The various individual sections are covered each within their own realm and in how they interrelate toward the resulting listening experience.

ACMUS: Design and Simulation of Music Listening Environments
This paper describes an interdisciplinary project on room acoustics. The main goals of this project is to identify and analyse the relevant acoustical parameters for small rooms used for music production – concert halls, studios, lecture rooms, movie theatres, etc. – and, using modern methodologies for software development, build computational tools to evaluate and manipulate these parameters. ...
متن کاملComparing two methods to measure preferred listening levels of personal listening devices.
The potential risk to hearing that mass-storage personal listening devices (PLDs) pose remains unclear. Previous research in this area has either focused on maximum outputs of these devices or on ear-canal measurements of listening levels that could not be compared to standards of occupational noise exposure. The purpose of this study was to compare two standard measurement protocols [ISO 11904...
متن کاملDerivation of an optimal directivity pattern for sweet spot widening in stereo sound reproduction.
In this paper the correction of the degradation of the stereophonic illusion during sound reproduction due to off-center listening is investigated. The main idea is that the directivity pattern of a loudspeaker array should have a well-defined shape such that a good stereo reproduction is achieved in a large listening area. Therefore, a mathematical description to derive an optimal directivity ...
متن کاملUsing listening difficulty ratings of conditions for speech communication in rooms.
The use of listening difficulty ratings of speech communication in rooms is explored because, in common situations, word recognition scores do not discriminate well among conditions that are near to acceptable. In particular, the benefits of early reflections of speech sounds on listening difficulty were investigated and compared to the known benefits to word intelligibility scores. Listening t...
متن کاملSpeech segregation in rooms: monaural, binaural, and interacting effects of reverberation on target and interferer.
Speech reception thresholds were measured in virtual rooms to investigate the influence of reverberation on speech intelligibility for spatially separated targets and interferers. The measurements were realized under headphones, using target sentences and noise or two-voice interferers. The room simulation allowed variation of the absorption coefficient of the room surfaces independently for ta...
